my name is Deirdre, I'm a full spectrum doula & owner of Orchid Doula Services.

Please note that I have recently returned to school to pursue a graduate certificate in Sexual Health Education. While I complete my studies, I am working with a reduced client load to ensure I can maintain the best standard of care for my clients. I currently have some availability for in-person postpartum clients, & birth clients with due dates between March-June 2022.

If you would like to request service, please send me an email including your expected due date, your location (general area/neighbourhood is fine), and the reason for your interest in working with me. I'll be happy to set up a complimentary consultation to determine if we are a good fit!

About Deirdre

I'm a queer, nonbinary, full spectrum doula, childbirth educator, and sex educator in training.

I provide individualized, trauma-informed doula care to pregnant people & their families throughout their reproductive experiences. My guidance is available to families throughout fertility & conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, & abortion.

I chose a career as a doula because I believe it's the best combination of my skills & interests, mobilized to nurture my community. In my work, I strive to create a trust & openness with my clients which allows them to see me as their friend, who's also their personal guide in pregnancy, birth, & parenting.

My goal with each client is to foster a sense of self-confidence. Together we'll explore education & self-reflection, through which I'll encourage you to articulate your wishes for your parenting journey.

I believe that by actively supporting bodily autonomy & informed choice, we can break cycles of trauma & make way for a culture that puts mental health & body sovereignty first. I practice doula work in the hope that by supporting wellness for parents, they will feel confident & nourished in caring for themselves and their children.

Measures in place to protect my family & yours

Great news! It is still possible to receive virtual & in-person doula care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Increased precautions need to be taken to stop the spread of the virus.

Olivia's Testimonial

"Deirdre is one of the warmest people I have ever interacted with. Her calm demeanour was what first gave me the impression that she was the right person to support me with the birth of my second child. I can hardly put into words how incredible her presence was during my birth and postpartum. She helped me prepare for a home birth, feel comfortable during the whole birth experience, and comfort my firstborn while I laboured. I don't know what I would have done without her, especially her postpartum support. I cannot imagine how I would have done without her."

I would like to acknowledge that I have built my home and my business on the traditional & unceded territory of the Anishnaabeg people.

I thank the Indigenous peoples of this region for allowing me to live & thrive here.

I stand with Indigenous peoples in what is currently known as Canada, & the world over. Their fight for land, resources & human decency is a fight for the liberation of all people.
